Enhanced restoration goes well beyond a standard digital transfer. Each video is processed using specialist restoration software to reduce noise, recover detail, improve colour and stability, sharpen the image and, where appropriate, upscale the footage.

This is a computationally intensive process and can take many times longer than the original running time of the video to complete. It also requires additional preparation, processing, storage and quality checking, which is why enhanced restoration is priced separately from standard digitisation.

The before-and-after example above shows the kind of improvement that may be possible, although results will always depend on the quality and condition of the original recording.
